Hi Guys,

Just yesterday i installed expose by downloading the latest version and added some photos in my album and every thing was fine. when today i logged in album manager it displayed unwritable error to four or five files. I checked every thing and found it was writable to user and unwritable to groups. I don not remember the default chmod setting for dat files and more over as it displayed error as unwritable i have had to give full permission as 777 to all the files. When i tried to login to album manager after that it worked fine.. I tried to deleted the albums but only pics in the album were deleted and was unable to delete album name.. when i delete it displays album deleted but still was there. I was frustrated and thought some thing is happening wrong and uninstalled the com_expose.. after uninstalling dat i still saw the file and folders under com_expose via ftp. i refreshed twice and confirmed still the files were there. i check ed in admin panel and saw it was not there. I was fully confused and deleted the folder completely via ftp. now i installed expose by downloading a new one. it works fine and found the system check was also ok. now i wanted to check the default chmode for the files which shown me error on last installation. I found n was i was surprised as it was same as it was earlier. ther was not written permission for users and others for default settings. then why it shown error last time? Is there any security issues? I am not sure whatz happening.. i did not instal or change any chmod settings? then why this? can any one advice me?

Thanks,

Yea there is a clue... actaully there was no ownership to the folder com_expose i was not able to upload any chages to the folder via ftp. my host given me permission to the folder as owner and after that i could upload file via ftp to particulat folder but i get the error from that
Your system dose not meet the SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS to run the Expose config section.

expose/img/ folder is NOT writable. please set the correct permissions.
expose/xml/ folder is NOT writable. please set the correct permissions.
Password file (expose/manager/amfphp/extra/passhash.inc.php) is NOT writable. please set the correct permissions.
expose/config/ folder is NOT writable. please set the correct permissions.
Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.

i have even changed folder ownership to none as it was earlier but still see the error? can i give chmode 777? but that is not perfect solutions.. kindly help me in this regard.

Thanks,

First of all, this definitely isn't any security issue, but an ownerchip problem. What does check_system tell you? Are you sure safe_mode is disabled? If your host didn't set the permissions right (who is admin/group/user), it could give strange issues.
By changing the ownership from apache-server (done by installation) to ftp-user, your rights are changed, and apache can't read/modify the files anymore.
Restore it back to apache and install JoomXplorer component. With it, you can work as apache-user on your server if you want to edit these files.
Trial and error, but first a backup!

The problem is not specific to the component...
Check: help.joomla.org/component/option,com_eas...ew/id,99/Itemid,268/
It definitely addresses the issue. In your case you should favour the "Optional" instructions, i.e. do not mingle with apache configuration but twaek joomla to your needs.
As a general advice, please take a moment to explore: help.joomla.org/component/option,com_eas...atid,226/Itemid,268/
